Internet TV company, Syncbak, announced today national distribution deals for two broadcasters. San Francisco-based KTSF and MHz Networks in Washington, DC will distribute live content OTT and to mobile phones across the country on Syncbak’s platform. MHz is expanding its affiliate relationships in every market for ten of its channels including MHz Worldview, the nation’s most complete aggregation of live international news. KTSF will be launching its international programming suite using the Syncbak platform for national distribution on all devices.

“Syncbak’s platform enables broadcasters and content owners to innovate around the delivery of television over the internet,” says Syncbak Founder and CEO, Jack Perry. “Once our technology is in place, stations can syndicate their original content in other markets.”

Frederick Thomas, MHz Networks Founder and CEO says, “The Syncbak technology really places our premier international content into the hands of every viewer, making our valuable brand of English-accessible world perspective and entertainment a mainstream product for the first time.”

“The Syncbak OTT platform enables us to distribute both our produced and purchased programming to specific markets with the confidence that all rights are being protected, says Michael Sherman, KTSF Television General Manager. “The added benefit is that we’re on all devices using the Syncbak platform.”

Syncbak’s internet broadcast platform dynamically manages rights and content distribution in the cloud using proprietary hardware installed in partner television stations. Broadcasters on the platform can immediately stream the content they own or negotiate the rights to on Apple and Android smart phones and tablets and can go OTT on connected TVs. There is no equipment cost and going mobile immediately is free. The platform offers multiple levels of viewer and market authentication with the highest being absolute in real time.

Fifty stations in 35 markets have installed Syncbak’s technology and are ready to go over-the-top on mobile phones and tablets. KTSF and MHz channels will be available in all Syncbak-enabled markets, including the technology’s limited release in Spokane, Washington later this month.

National Association of Broadcasters and the Consumer Electronics Association are both investors in Syncbak. The company’s internet broadcast platform eliminates the barriers to distributing live TV directly to viewers via the internet by protecting TV rights at the local, regional and national levels. The Syncbak platform supports both iOS and Android mobile devices and will be included on a number of connected television and gaming devices.

Internet TV company, Syncbak, is unveiling its mobile app at CES 2012. The iOS and Android apps are part of the company’s internet broadcast platform, a technology debuted in early 2011. Syncbak’s platform enables broadcasters to stream live content to mobile devices and connected TVs. Fifty stations in 35 markets have installed Syncbak’s technology and are ready to go over-the-top on mobile phones and tablets.

“In this time of media disruption, our first job was to build an authentication technology to move broadcast to broadband. We did that and today our technology authenticates 25 million households per second,” says Syncbak Founder and CEO, Jack Perry. “Now our job is to get the content flowing. Live mobile apps and social are exactly the tools broadcasters need to do that.”

The first limited release of the platform is scheduled for this month in Spokane, Washington where KAYU, KXLY, and KHQ have been piloting the technology.

“Consumers are voting with their devices,” says Brian Brady, CEO of Northwest Broadcasting and Chairman of the FOX Affiliate Board. “As broadcasters, we need to make sure our content is seen by our viewers, regardless of device. The Syncbak platform not only helps us compete OTT, but to lead the way.”

Syncbak’s internet broadcast platform dynamically manages content rights and distribution in the cloud using proprietary technology installed in partner television stations. Broadcasters on the platform can immediately stream the content they own or negotiate the rights to on Apple and Android smart phones and tablets and can go OTT on Smart TVs. There is no equipment cost and going mobile immediately is free. The platform offers multiple levels of viewer authentication with the highest being absolute in real time.

“We’re going to make it easy for any station who wants to become an internet broadcaster,” says Syncbak Founder and CEO, Jack Perry. “This is the year of OTT and we’re giving broadcasters, for free, the tools to immediately reach viewers with live television on all platforms from mobile phones to smart TVs.”

The Consumer Electronics Association, National Association of Broadcasters, several former NBC senior executives and a number of broadcast groups are investors in Syncbak. The company’s internet broadcast platform eliminates the barriers to distributing live TV directly to viewers via the internet by protecting TV rights at the local, regional and national levels. The Syncbak platform supports both iOS and Android mobile devices and talks are underway with manufacturers of connected TV and gaming platforms.

We’ve been keeping busy here at Syncbak and because of our hard work, we’re happy to announce that we’ve recently expanded our office space within the Frank N. Magid Associates campus. We’ve been leasing space from the FNMA folks for over a year and last week expanded into their former large call center operation, 3,000 square feet of carpet and cubes that is being renovated to accommodate our quickly growing technical team.

Our CEO, Jack Perry thinks the space is a perfect addition to what was currently being used. “As we continue to build out our infrastructure and hire great people, the former Magid Research call center is a perfect facility. Not only does it allow us to grow quickly right here at home, we love the fact that this building has served the television industry so well for decades.”

When fully renovated, the new space will have an energetic, open atmosphere that looks and feels like a center of innovation. Adding to this feeling will be a wall of television monitors that will display our TV feeds using our technology across the country.

The Magid campus is also ideal because it gives us room for future expansion within the company, a move that will be necessary to the growth of Syncbak and our technology. Located on the outskirts of Marion, the Campus gives easy access for all talents within the Iowa City and Cedar Rapids corridor.

Careers at Syncbak

Syncbak is a well-funded technology company defining the future of television (We #kicktherock). We’re always interested in hiring the best and the brightest.

Do you want to change the way America watches live sports, events and primetime television? Do you want to work at a place where your talent will make a difference?

If yes, join our team!

Syncbak offers a competitive salary, the latest tools and the best equipment. We’re casual, but take our work seriously.

If you think you have what it takes, send your resume to careers@syncbak.com.

This has been another busy week for Syncbak as we work towards taking TV to the internet. We’ve previously added our technology to 2 broadcast stations and this week we’ve increased that number by adding 4 more stations to our list. For the week, we targeted key cities in which we feel will bring great results in terms of innovation and consumer interest.

The first city, Madison, Wisconsin, is an ideal location for Syncbak’s technology due to its geographical location and younger demographic. Jack Perry, CEO of Syncbak, claims that Madison “approximates Everytown, USA for being wired” and is “a college town with some very forward thinking broadcasters.”

The station installs in Madison included 3 stations with a reach totaling 382,700 households.

The second location for our Synbox installs was Des Moines, Iowa, another city with high innovation potential. We added our technology to a station with a reach spanning over 432,820 households.

Both Des Moines and Madison were recently named top cities for young professionals by Forbes magazine (Des Moines ranking first, while Madison was a close third), which shows an ideal market for early technology adopters, many of whom would potentially use Syncbak to view TV on their internet enabled devices. We look forward to working with these stations as we move onward.

Looking forward, we have many more station installs planned for the upcoming months. We’ll continue to update you on our progress as well as our chosen locations for TV innovation.

As we move forward with our summer station launches, we’re excited to announce that we’ve added our second station in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area last week. KGAN, a Sinclair Broadcasting station, joined the first innovative stations to test our technology, the Syncbox, within their station.

By Syncbak-enabling KGAN, we’re prepared to Syncbak-enable all associate channels, like its sub channel station CoolTV, and an unlimited amount of internet-only channels.

With the addition of KGAN to our group of test stations, there are now multiple options for channels within this area of 346,010 households to access TV on the internet enabled devices they carry with them or have in their homes.

We’re happy to have KGAN join our initiative, and look forward to further progress within the station.

Looking forward, we are ready for quick implementation throughout a variety of states across America starting next week.

Media technology innovator funds rollout of internet TV technology in 50 television stations.

IOWA (July 11, 2011) – Executing on its strategy to help broadcasters launch personalized TV via the internet, Syncbak announced today that it has closed its Series B finance round, bringing total capital raised to $5.6 million. New and existing investors include the National Association of Broadcasters, the Consumer Electronics Association, Northwest Broadcasting and three former executives of NBC.

The company is using funds to complete its trial of internet TV technology in fifty television stations (representing seven major broadcast groups) this summer. The technology is driven by proprietary hardware that enables Syncbak and its broadcast partners to stream personalized or 1:1 TV to authenticated viewers on connected devices.

When commercialized, Syncbak’s internet TV platform enables broadcasters to provide ad-supported and pay-to-view programming through an unlimited multichannel line-up. Connected viewers will be able to access expanded local broadcast content over the internet on a family of devices. Syncbak expects the platform to be a launching pad for personalized viewing of niche and traditional broadcast content.

“Completing our Series B financing puts us in an excellent position to hire additional staff, put a consumer facing on Syncbak.tv and continue building out our network of connected affiliates,” says Jack Perry, Founder and CEO of Syncbak. “The stations piloting our technology this summer are getting a glimpse of internet-age TV,” says Perry, “which we see as a personalized viewing experience for consumers and a renaissance for broadcasters.”

About Syncbak

Syncbak is a media technology start-up that is enabling broadcasters to reach authenticated viewers over the internet with an unlimited line-up of ad-supported and pay-to-view television. The company’s proprietary hardware uses internet and over-the-air technologies to create a personalized, one-to-one connection between broadcasters and viewers. It then partners with broadcasters to stream all of the content they have or can acquire the rights to stream in their market. Syncbak was founded in 2009 by Jack Perry.

We’re happy to announce that we’ve officially kicked off our summer of Syncbox testing! Throughout the course of the next couple months, we’ll be installing our Syncbak technology, the Syncbox, in 50 stations across America.

This week, we were happy to have KWWL, a Quincy station, join us as the first station to test the Syncbox 2300. KWWL has tested our technology before and we’ve developed a great partnership with them throughout the past months. By Syncbak-enabling KWWL, we’re ready to Syncbak-enable 346,010 households when the time comes.

Overall, we’re going to be testing with some of the best broadcast stations in America.

Where will we be next? Stay tuned!
