Syncbak Expands Partnership with Kirkwood Community College via Streaming Scholarship
Company supports community with new scholarship for graduating local high school senior entering Kirkwood’s Computer Software Development program.
Marion, IA— May 3, 2019 – Syncbak, the world’s leader in live local OTT with headquarters in Marion, IA, today demonstrated its continued commitment to the region with the announcement of a new scholarship through Kirkwood Community College, further strengthening the tie between the two local pillars. Last fall, Syncbak announced its 24/7/365 network operations team supporting major accounts such as CBS All Access, Hulu, Sony and Amazon is fully staffed and managed by students and alumni of Kirkwood’s Computer Software Development program.
Syncbak aims to provide students an opportunity to pursue their interests, specifically in streaming technology. The new scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from Linn county and applied towards the student’s first year of study in the program. Given Kirkwood’s strong reputation for retaining local talent with 95 percent of graduates remaining in Iowa, the award has both an immediate impact on the recipient and a longer-term impact on a stronger local economy.
“The goal of our scholarship is to provide opportunities for students who want to be part of something big in the streaming industry,” said Jack Perry, founder & CEO of Syncbak. “We want the recipient to know their education is supported by a team of individuals who believe they have the potential to make a difference in re-defining television. If the recipient ends up coming to work for us, that’s icing on the cake,” added Perry.
“Syncbak provides great career opportunities for Kirkwood alums with career interest in streaming technology,” said Eric Weiler, Annual Giving Officer at the Kirkwood Foundation. “The newly established Syncbak Scholarship will reduce financial barriers, and help students achieve their educational goals and realize real world success,” added Weiler.
