Syncbak’s Live Mobile TV App Enhanced

Syncbak’s live mobile app update enables users to watch “what’s live now” in their markets; includes closed captioning.

Marion, IA (PRWEB) December 17, 2012

Syncbak, the television distribution platform adopted by broadcasters for OTT delivery of live, in-market television to mobile devices, today introduced an updated version of its Syncbak app. The new update features a completely redesigned user interface with native support for the iPad and iPad mini. The enhanced interface includes the ability to view streaming schedules and to see immediately what content is live. Users can also set reminders to view an upcoming live broadcast. The updated Syncbak TV app for iOS is now available in the iTunes App Store. The Android version is expected to be released by year end.
The new app also includes closed captioning capabilities. Working with Syncbak’s streaming infrastructure installed in partner stations, the app streams closed captioning as it is broadcast out of the station, meeting the service deadlines set by the FCC.

“TV is becoming ubiquitous,” says Jack Perry, Founder and CEO of Syncbak. “The trick is to deliver a lean-back experience in the lean-to world. Our app and platform combine the best of broadcast and internet technologies, enabling broadcasters to keep their brand in front of viewers wherever they are and for viewers to be able to quickly, easily, affordably access live broadcast TV on a device they already own and carry.”

Over 100 broadcasters in 70 markets use or are testing Syncbak’s OTT mobile platform. Live launches and evaluation agreements have doubled in recent months as syndicators, networks and studios continue to consider and clear “Syncbak rights” for live in-pattern, in-market distribution of their content on the platform.

The Syncbak app, available via the App Store and Google Play, allows users to watch live, in-market broadcast TV on Apple and Android smart phones and tablets. Syncbak’s technology “localizes the internet” for broadcasters, networks and entertainment studios, enabling retransmission of live television over the internet in much the same way it works over cable and satellite. Syncbak was founded in 2009 by Jack Perry.
